It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
