The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration About Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
